About Spyglass Farms

Spyglass Farms was founded in the late 1970's in Clovis California. At that time the goal was to raise and show quality AQHA quarter horses. Although our horses were being shown successfully, our foundation Sire was consistently producing foals with excessive white markings making them unqualified for the AQHA registry. Due to the quality of the stallion and his bloodlines plus the superior qualities of his foals, the decision was made to liquidate the AQHA mares and replace them with APHA paint mares. In the following years we successfully produced halter and riding futurity champions, California State champions and in 1991 earned the titles of California State All Around Champion with individual State Championships, the title of APHA All Around World Champion, three World Championships, four National Honor Roll Titles, APHA Supreme All Around Champion Award and was the #1 performance horse in the Nation.

About nine years ago I saw my first Gypsy Vanner in a video. I was impressed by their beauty and uniqueness. I started researching the breed and the more I learned the more excited I became. At that time most of the Gypsy horses being imported were the best of the breed, but verifiable lineage was almost nonexistent. When the GVHS registry was founded, it gave the breed a starting point for laying down traceable bloodlines. Being on the ground floor promoting, while also maintaining and building on the quality of the few truly great Gypsies that were here or being imported by reputable breeders, was an exciting prospect. I spent the next two years putting together a small band of Gypsies that I felt represented the best quality and proven bloodlines of the breed. Their offspring are proving themselves in all areas of the show ring, reproducing their qualities in the breeding shed and leaving their hoof prints on the hearts of those that love and care for them.
