Gypsy horses come from the UK and Ireland. The breed has been around for more than 300 years. They were developed by the Gypsy people, known as Travelers or Romany. There are few Gypsy Horses in the United States at this time, but with good breeding programs , we hope to make theses horses more commonly known throughout the United States. Gypsy Horses are called Gypsy Cobs or Cobs in Europe by the Travelers or Romany people. Other Europeans may also refer to them as Tinker Horses. In America, we typically refer to them as Gypsy Horses, Gypsy Vanners, or Gypsy Cobs. The main reason for the different names is due to the different registries in America, but these horses are all the same wonderful breed no matter what you wish to call them. With the foundation and bulk of the breed residing in the United Kingdom it is difficult for the general population to physically see and be with these special horses. Here at Spy Glass Farms we plan to breed the best and hope to be able to bring them into everyone's lives.
